Sweet Parted Lips

My love for you is a story untold
I can’t eat
I eat too much
I can’t sleep
I sleep too much

I trusted your smile
The sparkle in your eyes
You lied to me
Now my trust for your kind –dies

I begged you not to defy my trust
I asked you to be kind with my heart
I prayed you would be compassionate to me
I believed you would be different

How could I be so blind?
How could I waste six days
Thinking of the stories you wove
I, listened like a smitten child upon your lap

What made you toy with my heart?
What makes you play gist at the thought?
“My life, my wife.” You tease me with my own lines?
From a heart-felt rhyme

I opened up that heart
I told you the truth
I showed you a path
I gave you the peace you always wished you had
For you claimed you didn’t believe “I” existed in this world

I thought you were an angel
I figured you to be a confidant
I craved for your protection
I wanted so much for you to provide covering
For this bright – sprite – light

You are the worst kind of lover
One that sweeps in with the night
One that sleeps with the dark
One that weaves a pretty fabric of lies
One that creates dreams
And destroys prayers
