A Stone’s Throw

I don’t know if you are ready to hear what I have to say
They say some words are best kept confidential
For no one cares about another’s worries or woes
But the time has come to explode

A stone’s throw regret
is all I can think today
how life has passed me by
with few to help me along the way

Oh, how I have toiled to make ends meet
a good paying job escapes me
even on a sunny day
thrown to the dogs like venerable prey

Date after date
I’ve given up the thought
the bland meetings of late
this is not what I’ve sought

I’ve discovered my sales approach
is beyond reprimand or reproach
for no one wants
to buy the services I broach

Repression looms for the national economy
A lifetime of economic depression has been my reality
I try and I try to make the connection
the only way out is through this expression
