Love in the Slow Lane

When I was fourteen I dreamed a little dream
For my future this is what I wanted
I dreamed of a husband
and a baby carriage

A house on the hill
A travel home down below
A cabin on the lake
A condo just for show

In my twenties,
I was engaged to a man
I wondered if he was luck or chance
It turned out that he had
much self-analysis to do

I concentrated on my goals and career
Nothing there or much to glean
and sadly I’m not much further
along as I would have guessed

For the love I speak of has nothing to do
with a husband, child or career
For none of it matters
if you are unhappy with you
